With its humble and authentic feel Japanese Institute of Culture has you wrapped in the oriental spirit as soon as you enter the gate.
Exhibitions and events, bookshop and beautiful garden are yours to experiment.
The garden and the building are amazing. It felt like being inside a Japanese anime or film. A true corner of Japan inside Rome!
A hidden gem away from the common touristic paths. You need to make a reservation, only possible by calling which can be a bit tricky. Don't be discouraged if they don't answer during the few official hours (check their website to find out their opening hours), last minute reservations are not a problem. The entry is free. On top of that, the visit includes a free guided tour which was really interesting. Our guide provided a lot of background information about the history of the garden and the Japanese institute as well as Japanese culture in general without being overwhelming nor boring.
Exactly what one would expect from a Japanese facility: highest courtesy and perfection when it comes to accommodate their guests. The place is fantastic, looks tidy and pretty in both indoors and outdoors. They hold many free events here and they're all interesting.
If you're a japanophile make sure to drop by this place.
They also hold courses of Japanese language and the JLPT exam in December.
They don't answer theur phone calls
Very hard to get in, since you need to book a visit which had reduced numbers
